I am living in Wuestenrot, about 50 km north of Stuttgart in the south part of Germany. Wuestenrot is located in the middle of the Flora and Fauna naturalpark „Schwaebisch-Fraenkischer Wald“, DLFF-109.
In 1864, King Wilhelm of Würtemberg ordered seeds of Redwood trees (sequoiadendron giganteum) in California to cover the future requirements for wood. Nowadays we have about 7.500 of these mammoth trees (Wellingtonie) in Baden-Würtemberg. Some of them can be found in the nature park Schwäbisch – Fränkischer Wald.
